Disneyland Confirms a New Marvel Themed Land

Yes, you read that headline correct! Disneyland has filed for its building permits with Anaheim City to expand and build a Marvel Land. Disney has yet to confirm the name of the new land but with Stark Industries located on the construction walls, one can only assume! As most of you know, Disney bought out Marvel in 2009 for $4 billion dollars and pushed Marvel into the wonderful franchise it is today.

Where will the new land be?

If you have been to Disneyland recently, you may have noticed that there is no longer a path that connects you from Cars Land to the Tower of Terror, now known as Guardians of the Galaxy.

The pathway between Guardians and Cars Land, where you can see construction already taking place.

This area, that once featured A Bugs Land, has disappeared behind a grey fence that now says Stark Industries, so we all have been assuming that this land will become some kind of Avengers/Marvel Land.

According to the city, the permits will cover all of the areas that were once A Bugs Land and also a parking lot located behind and next to the Guardians of the Galaxy Ride. Last time we were at Disney, the fire alarm went off while we were in line for Guardians of the Galaxy, and we had to use an emergency exit that wrapped out and behind the ride. It was kind of like our own backlot tour. However, I didn’t see any new construction taking place near the back parking lot area. Now, this doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, maybe they are waiting until the last minute to develop that area if they even are.

Disney is really not giving us much to work with at this point, they, of course, are staying very quiet about the new project. It’s all very Disney of them!

What we do know:

The Marvel-themed land will be coming to Disneyland in 2020.

The new land will include experiences for the Avengers and Spiderman in addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

It will be a completely immersive Superhero universe.

Disneyland is not the only park getting the new Marvel land, Paris and Hongkong Disneyland will also receive different Marvel-themed attractions.

The permits assess the value of the expansion at $14 million, including 1 bathroom, 1 Microbrewery, a Meet and greet area and a massive merchandise area.

Rumors are already circling the internet that the new land will contain a Spiderman ride and Antman ride, but at this point, it’s all just rumors and speculation.

Due to the licensing and contracts between Disney and the Marvel Franchise, the actual new land cannot contain Marvel in the land name, or in any of the marketing, so the name Marvel Land is a big no!

With D23 slowly approaching at the end of August, we are hoping they will announce at least the name of the new land at the show… I have my bet is on Avengers Land!

What do you think the name of the new Marvel Land should be?! Let us know and leave it in the comments below!
