How To Use Disneyland Fastpass

How do Fastpasses work?

The Fastpass system gives you the opportunity to waste less time waiting in line for your favorite attractions at both Disneyland and California Adventure, and more time riding them!

Taking advantage of the Fastpass system is easy and completely free! The Fastpass distribution kiosks are usually located near the entrance of select rides. If the attraction has Fastpasses available, you will see an FP on the entrance sign. I have made a full in-depth list of which attractions have Fastpasses and the location of the Fastpass Kiosks for each ride. The passes are on a first come first serve basis. The more popular rides tend to run out of tickets by noon on the weekends and by 2:00 pm on the weekdays.

How to use Fastpasses:

Once you locate the Fastpass are for your attraction, you will see the return time displayed on the sign. If that return time works for you and your group, continue into the Fastpass distribution area.

Insert your Disneyland admission ticket into the kiosk. You will need to do this for each ticket per person. So, if you have 4 people in your group each person will need to enter their ticket and receive a separate Fastpass per person. If you send a runner to grab your Fastpasses, they must have all of the admission tickets for your group.

The Fastpass kiosk will generate a ticket with your return time window.

When it is your return time window, head to your attraction and to the Fastpass return entrance. Make sure to scan the same admission ticket or Annual Passport you used to obtain the Fastpass. A cast member will be located next to the Fastpass return entrance, they are more than happy to help you scan your pass.

Enjoy your attraction with a minimal wait.

Something to keep in mind…

Fastpasses are valid only during the return time printed on your Fastpass ticket and on the day of its issued.

Everyone in your group must have a Fastpass if they are old enough to have an admission ticket.

You may only have one Fastpass during your return time frame. So if your return time is between 9:00-10:00 for Space Mountain, you can not get another Fastpass for Star Tours with the return time of 9:00-10:00.

At the bottom of your Fastpass ticket, there is a section that indicates the time frame when you will be able to obtain another Fastpass.

The Fastpass return time frame is strictly enforced. You will need to return within your designated time frame or up to 5 minutes early or 10 minutes. Disneyland now has a new Maxpass that is offered at an additional cost. I have made a pros and cons list which goes over how much the Maxpasses will run you and your family and if its really worth it!

Okay, so the bad news…

As of right now, there are no plans for Fastpasses in the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions.
